The 7th Social Media Week Hamburg (SMWHH) gets underway from February 27th-March 3rd, 2018. Women are behind only 13 per cent of start-ups launched across Germany. Stephanie Neumann and Swantje Pawlitsch are among the few to have taken this step and are gaining all kinds of valuable experience with Prelovee – an online vintage fashion store. The duo will outline their experience during a workshop on February 28 at this year’s SMWHH, which will feature many more interesting topics.
e-sports – organisation, staging and brand management
E-sport has long since evolved into a visitor magnet. Digital sports are hugely popular in Asia and are gaining ground in Europe as well. Hamburg hosted the fun Electronic Sports League (ESL One) last October. Such events attract all kinds of activists, onlookers, organisers and sponsors. A panel on February 28 will focus on the organisational aspects, communication, staging, fan culture, brand management and label communication in multi-sport associations.
Innovative 360 degree marketing
Digitalisation refers to virtual and augmented reality now more than ever. Many companies are experimenting with the technology and proving innovative. Rezia Kiani, founder of omnia360, will outline the potential of virtual, augmented reality technology in marketing during a keynote on February 28. Kiani’s company specialise in 360° content.
#Influencer marketing
Influencers on YouTube and elsewhere are exerting their influence. But the question is how do they get their message across authentically to a target group? What kind of opportunities do influencers really have or is it all just hype? A panel of entrepreneurs, platform operators and influencers will talk about “Influencer Marketing: Bullshit or Holy Grail?” on February 28.
YouTube algorithm
Young “vloggers”, big companies, artists and influencers are all aiming for the best spots in leading online video portals. YouTube is also turning to artificial intelligence making algorithms effective, but intransparent. David Peter, a social media advisor, will talk about such algorithms and how they work during a keynote on March 1.
Networks versus hierarchies?
Although many German executives say they are good managers, a third of German employees say they have encountered a bad boss at least once. Many have thought about handing in their notice because of their immediate supervisor. Experts from Microsoft and Ahoi Consulting will discuss the effects of digitalisation and new work culture on long-term management during a panel on March 1, 2018
